Job Title: Birmingham Virtual School Education Advisor

Permanent

Grade C: 35412 - 44075

Working 36.5 hours per week

Term time only (39 weeks) 10 days.

We are seeking to appoint a Virtual School Advisor for children and young people known to a social worker in Birmingham. The work does also cover out of area educational settings.

All about the role

You will be joining us as part of an exciting period of change and development as our service is growing into a new structure and roles. Key areas of responsibility are:

  • To act as an education advocate for a specific cohort of children and young people known to a social worker residing both in and out of city.
  • To work in partnership with relevant agencies in Birmingham and other LAs (where applicable) to prioritise and support the education and welfare of children and young people known to a social worker
  • To actively support education settings to identify and implement appropriate interventions such as trauma informed and attachment aware practice to improve the engagement and attainment of children and young people.
  • To coordinate effective education planning for children and young people known to a social worker ensuring effective transitions supporting education settings to maintain the progress they have made and address any gaps in learning
  • For children and young people in care to oversee and quality assure the termly Personal Education Plan process to ensure the child or young person benefits from focused targets and use of Pupil Premium Plus;
  • Where required to contribute to the implementation monitoring and review of other plans such as EHCPs with multi agency partners to meet the assessed needs of the young person in care or previously in care
