Job Description

I have a client located in Columbia South Carolina that is looking to bring on an experienced Mechanical CAD Designer to support their stainless-steel sheet metal medical lab and commercial equipment design operations.

This person will work directly with the engineering and fabrication teams to produce and update detaileddrawings for custom stainless-steel products including cabinets counters sinks mortuary and pathology equipment and other commercial/medical assemblies. The ideal candidate will have strong sheet-metal drafting experience attention to detail and the ability to interpret and update fabrication drawings with minimal oversight. Experience with commercial kitchen equipment or stainless-steel casework is highly preferred.

This is a direct-hire or contract-to-hire opportunity with the chance to grow long-term within the company. Once hired on employees receive PTO health benefits and 401(k).

Location: Columbia SC (on-site)
Schedule: MondayFriday 8:00 AM 4:30 PM

Requirements:

  • 5 years of mechanical design experience ideally in sheet-metal fabrication

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (SolidWorks experience a plus)

  • Ability to design and modify stainless-steel products

  • Understanding of fabrication processes (forming cutting welding assembly)

  • Ability to interpret and update legacy drawings and develop new drawings for custom builds

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation and construction standards

  • Detail-oriented with excellent technical communication skills

  • Ability to work fully on-site and collaborate with production/fabrication

  • Ability to work independently with minimal training or supervision

  • Experience with commercial kitchen medical pathology or mortuary equipment

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience designing NSF-compliant equipment

  • Associates degree or technical certification
