General Purpose
Assist with curatorial and administrative tasks including research administrative assistance artist correspondence exhibit project assistance visitor services and exhibit installation. Learning outcomes for the intern include: an introduction to a professional museum environment and career path; expose the intern to day-to-day art center operations working with a curatorial team; train the intern in basic curatorial support tasks; and serve as an educational and mentoring experience for the intern.
Specific Projects: January April
- De-installation and exhibit support of Human Impactexhibition.
- Exhibition research and writing bios timelines and other materials to support Summer & Fall 2026
- Administrative duties as needed: filing mailings checklists draft correspondence

Pay Grade:Unpaid for college credit
Remote Tier 2: Up to one (1) day remote/weekEssential Job Functions
- Support general curatorial department tasks including: de-installation and exhibit support of fall exhibitions; support with exhibition-based public programs including artists talks and events
- Assistance with coordinating checklists artist correspondence and general research as part of best practices in a professional museum/non-profit environments
- Create and organize exhibition folders artist packets general information
- Assist with packing and deinstallation of exhibitions; Participate in artist outreach programs
- Assist with correspondence and research as it relates to artists upcoming exhibitions
- Assist with special exhibit or artist projects: brochures artist development workshops etc.
- Serve 1-2 gallery shifts per month in visitor services role engaging with community and school groups.
- Assist in filing copying and compiling information on regional / national artists
- Completion of a daily intern log personal bio and description of internship to add to resume.
- Readings and other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements
- Ability to actively support City diversity equity and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development
- Student must be enrolled in an internship course with a university that has an MOU in place with the City of Burlington prior to internship start-date.
- Able to commit a minimum of 8-12 hours a week (during business hours) for 8-12 weeks in accordance with a prearranged schedule.
- Strong written and oral skills ability and/or some knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Able to work somewhat independently with a minimum of instruction
- Work a regular scheduled day in the curatorial office and one day onsite or offsite.
