About the opportunity:
Initial Assessment and Planning (IAP) is the main access point for clients experiencing or at risk of homelessness throughout Victoria. It helps people prevent and end homelessness by providing accommodation assistance advice and referrals for additional support.

IAP Team Leaders will be responsible for supporting the daily client-facing operations of IAP in collaboration with the Coordinator. The IAP Team Leaders will work in a flexible way that responds to changing client presentations and adjusting the service to ensure safety and a quality service to clients within established guidelines and safety controls and providing direct support to clients as needed.

The role will provide the primary support for IAP staff in their duty work; providing an additional layer of support and enhancing accessibility to secondary consults coaching and shadowing. The IAP Team Leader will lead by example in working with complex client presentations and responding quickly to escalated client presentations. The IAP Team Leader will act as a mentor to help facilitate and enhance the on-the-job performance of duty work by reviewing duty tasks and practices and ensuring effective client outcomes.

Reporting to the Coordinator the Team Leader - IAP will work to support the Coordinator positions focus area and will be responsible for the formal supervision of a small number of staff within their team.

This is a permanent part-time (68.4 hours per fortnight) opportunity initially based in Southbank.

What youll be doing:

    • Providing primary support to staff in client-facing IAP functions (including the waiting area intake and duty) and responding to the changing client presentations on any given day. Including providing direct support to clients as needed.
    • Adjusting the daily operations of Intake and Duty to ensure safety reflect staffing needs and ensure the service is open and operates safely and effectively. The IAP Team Leader will do this with support from their Coordinator and according to established safety controls.
    • Providing support and secondary consultation to IAP Workers through the course of their shifts on Intake and Duty.
    • Lead by example in working with complex client presentations applying advanced practice knowledge and trauma-informed approaches.
    • Operating across client-facing roles in a flexible way that alleviates the pressures on Intake Duty or other roles as required throughout the day that ensures a good service offer for clients.
    • Facilitate cross-site collaboration to optimise resource allocation and service delivery.
    • Champion best practice by training and mentoring IAP Workers fostering a culture of continuous learning
    • Responding to escalated requests from clients including but not limited to requests for client files and client complaints under the supervision of the Entry Point Coordinator.
    • Maintain client files and records in accordance with procedures on a computer case management software system.
    • Assist the Entry Point Coordinator in facilitating the provision of services as needed

What were looking for (key selection criteria):

    • A relevant tertiary qualification in human services and direct experience in the delivery of services to clients with complex needs relating to homelessness (desired).
    • Demonstrated understanding of housing and homelessness policy context and systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others towards effective client solutions.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
    • Experience supervising or mentoring staff or demonstrated leadership capability.
    • Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
    • Excellent problem solving skills.
    • Understanding of or a demonstrated commitment to upholding Child Safe Standards in the workplace.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness.
$52.53 - $54.91 an hour
