Company Overview
A high volume family owned Ford dealership body shop in the western Fort Lauderdale area is seeking an experienced Body Shop Mechanic to join its team. The shop operates two buildings runs approximately 265 to 275 vehicles per month and generates over one million dollars in monthly collision revenue.
The operation is heavily DRP focused with roughly 95 percent of work coming through direct repair programs across multiple major carriers. Although it is a Ford store the body shop services a wide range of makes and models and maintains several OEM certifications.
You will be joining an established team of about 40 people led by a long tenured body shop manager who also oversees parts and service.
Position Summary
The Body Shop Mechanic is responsible for all mechanical and related R&I work on vehicles that come through the collision center. This is not a general service lane technician role. It is dedicated to supporting collision repairs and ensuring that vehicles are returned to safe reliable manufacturer compliant condition.
The ideal candidate is an experienced mechanic who can work independently produce clean work and minimize comebacks. This is not an entry level opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Perform mechanical diagnosis and repairs on collision vehicles in the body shop
Handle all related R&I operations that support structural and cosmetic repairs
Verify correct repair procedures using OEM information and shop resources
Perform quality control checks to ensure vehicles meet safety and performance standards
Communicate clearly with body technicians estimators and management regarding repair needs and timelines
Document all work performed in accordance with shop and insurer requirements
Maintain a clean organized work area and care for shop tools and equipment
Adhere to all safety protocols OSHA requirements and manufacturer procedures
Qualifications
Several years of hands on automotive mechanical experience preferably in a collision or body shop environment
Strong diagnostic and repair skills across suspension steering braking cooling and related systems
Experience with R&I work for collision repairs including interior and dash components
Ability to produce high quality work with minimal comebacks
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Steady professional demeanor with low drama and a team player attitude
Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred but not required
Experience working in a dealership or high volume DRP environment
Familiarity with Ford vehicles and other major OEMs
OEM or I CAR training or certifications
Compensation and Benefits
Pay structure: Flat rate
Pay range: Targeting approximately 35 to 45 dollars per flat rate hour depending on experience and skill set
Sign on bonus: Up to 10000 dollars sign on bonus paid in installments over the first year subject to conditions and pay back provisions if employment ends early

Required Skills:
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in auto body repair with an emphasis on structural repairs. Knowledge of welding techniques and use of specialized tools and equipment. Experience in frame and suspension alignment. Ability to read and interpret repair orders and technical manuals. Attention to detail and quality workmanship. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well in a team environment. Relevant certification(s) such as ASE Structural Technician or I-CAR Gold Class certification is preferred. Experience utilizing Car-O-Liner Chief Genesis or Celette highly preferred Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to bend stoop and reach overhead. We are seeking candidates for this position who meet specific qualifications. A valid drivers license is a mandatory requirement and successful candidates must also pass a mandatory drug test. Additionally a clean driving record is essential for consideration.
