Job Title: Mechanical Engineer NPI (New Product Introduction)
Location: San Jose CA
Experience: 6 Years (3 4 Years in SolidWorks Required)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract
About the Role
We are seeking a Core Mechanical Engineer with strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks GD&T and tolerance analysis to support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. The ideal candidate will lead mechanical design supplier collaboration and documentation efforts to ensure product quality manufacturability and successful production release.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed 3D models assemblies and drawings using CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
Manage component design development and qualification activities with multiple suppliers while maintaining focus on quality cost and delivery timelines.
Define technical interface requirements and specifications in collaboration with cross-functional design teams.
Conduct on-site supplier visits to validate manufacturing processes and ensure production readiness.
Lead DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews address supplier concerns and coordinate with test and validation teams to ensure timely completion of activities.
Oversee mechanical design and build activities through concept prototype validation and production phases.
Generate and release part and assembly drawings Engineering BOMs (EBOMs) and documentation into Agile PLM or equivalent systems.
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T principles to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
Prepare and maintain DFM/DFA DFMEA and PFMEA documentation for risk assessment and design validation.
Develop work instructions and documentation for new products design improvements and process enhancements.
Independently manage assigned projects with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
Masters or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
6 years of experience in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering.
Minimum 3 years in high-voltage electromechanical design and engineering.
4 years of hands-on SolidWorks experience with proven 3D modeling and design expertise.
Strong knowledge of GD&T tolerance stack-up and mechanical design principles.
Demonstrated experience in Engineering Documentation Supplier Coordination and NPI process execution.
Familiarity with DFM/DFA DFMEA and PFMEA methodologies.
Excellent communication problem-solving and project management skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Agile PLM systems for documentation and change control.
Exposure to electromechanical components and high-voltage product designs.
Hands-on experience in manufacturing process validation and supplier quality management.
