About the Role

Infrastructure Engineering Incs (IEI) is pursuing qualified candidates for an experienced Civil Project Engineer - Program Managerto join our Chicago Team in delivering Program Management projects. The Civil Project Engineer supports and leads a variety of infrastructure program management projects working closely with Project Managers Program Managers and multidisciplinary teams to turn design concepts into completed projects and help agency clients deliver their projects and programs. This role focuses on program management design engineering and construction engineering and inspection.

We are a multi-disciplinary Prime consulting firm that focuses on the delivery of program management design engineering construction engineering and inspection services.

As part of a program management team the Civil Project Engineer will also provide technical guidance coordinate with other disciplines and occasionally visit project sites to verify work meets client and quality standards. Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities:

Helps lead and manage the development and implementation of engineering projects and programs for agency clients including Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).

Advises clients on the technical regulatory and financial aspects of infrastructure projects and programs.

Plans directs and monitors execution of projects and programs.

Prepares design drawings and specification documents with a strong focus on transportation engineering and land development (Right of Way Improvement site demolition grading site geometry and utilization utility development and construction detailing).

Performs field visits and prepares field reports during construction administration

Coordinates technical review processing and code reviews. Adjust and correlate data based on research code issues design options and document findings

Prepares cost estimates

Prepare permitting documents for regulatory agencies and coordinate with permitting agencies

Collaborates with clients and/or sub-consultants to establish and achieve design goals.

Attends meetings with clients stakeholders and permitting agencies to support project coordination

Other assignments as needed

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelors degree in civil engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program required

Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois is strongly preferred

4 years of experience in site design permitting or municipal review coordination (Chicago or comparable urban environment (preferred).

Responsibilities and Skills:

Perform QA/QC of plans calculations specifications and quantities developed by staff engineers in accordance with the CDOT QA/QC Plan.

Serve as a technical specialist staff advisor and consultant to agency clients.

Take initiative in developing and refining templates procedures and engineering methods to improve project delivery and team efficiency.

Train and mentor team members to strengthen overall quality and performance.

Facilitate communication among agency clients regulatory agencies local government entities other consultants and other stakeholders.

Host regular project progress meetings to provide status updates and identify potential delivery issues.

Carry out complex or novel civil engineering assignments requiring innovative approaches or refined design methods.

Supervise and support civil engineering and technical staff; evaluate performance assign work and set project priorities.

Proficiency with AutoCAD/MicroStation Civil 3D/GeoPak and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent technical writing communication and organizational skills.

Knowledge of local codes design standards and permitting processes.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.

Working Conditions:

IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable drivers record.

Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites have good hand-eye coordination and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes toxic chemicals risk of electric shock and vibration. Often works around dust asphalt and concrete.

Sometimes needs to put in extra hours including weekends to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.

Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.

Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.

Usually works in outside weather conditions.
