About this Role

Queensland Rail have a permanent opportunity for an experienced professional to join our Major Projects Integration team in the role of Cost Control this opportunity you will be supporting the business to improve cost management capability across the major projects in MPI. Other duties will include raising purchase orders invoice receipting maintaining registers aswell as supporting managers with month end reporting and reviews.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a finance background and preferably within a Projects environment providing high level of technical skills to support and partner with business key stakeholders.

Purpose That Counts - we are looking for demonstrated experience in:

  • Support development and maintenance of cost management and control protocols that support compliance with Queensland Rails approved Policy Framework and applicable legislative financial / auditing requirements.
  • Conduct audits and reconciliations of financial systems and registers to ensure cost data accuracy and consistency.
  • Providing project teams with monthly financial and variance analysis reporting
  • Provide advice and support on initial development /creation and maintenance of standard Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) to support integrated cost (CBS) schedule Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for cost accuracy and reporting.
  • Assist in providing end-to-end costs management support including co-ordinating monthly accruals invoice and claim validation and processing
  • Processing financial requests such as purchases orders goods receipts and facilitating vendor invoicing and set ups.

People Who Count - who we are looking for

  • Preferably knowledge of project management principles and practices in particular the general project lifecycle financial management project control techniques and project auditing
  • Substantial knowledge of financial and project management systems; in particular SAP R3 Financial Reporting Projects Module and Business Warehouse
  • High level of skill gathering documenting interpreting analysing data.
  • High level of interpersonal and written communication skills including effective communication of financial information
  • Experience of reporting qualitative and quantitative cost and schedule data
