Purpose of the position

This position is part of Colgates Design and Packaging Department responsible for business growth by driving Packaging initiatives.

This position supports the primary company strategies of Driving Growth by developing the packaging for innovative consumer preferred products. The role is cross-functional in nature working very closely with Marketing Product Development Packaging Design Manufacturing the Supply Chain as well as peers on the Division Category teams within Global Design and Packaging. Developing new partnerships and cultivating existing ones with outside packaging vendors are a critical element of job responsibilities.

Lets talk about the responsibilities:

  • Create and manage the development of new packaging concepts.

  • Manage the conceptualization initiation and development of new and innovative packaging. The primary focus is on Packaging-based product concepts that will drive incremental growth to Colgate-Palmolives current portfolio.

  • Partner very closely with Marketing and Consumer Insights to identify opportunities to explore new Packaging concepts.

  • Organize and manage cross-functional teams as necessary to co-develop concepts manufacturing systems and partnerships internally and externally to optimize ideas for launch readiness.

  • Scout externally sourced Packaging innovation ideas from current and new suppliers.

  • Comfortably contributes in the Design stages of New Product Development focusing primarily on Consumer needs.

  • Identify and provide rationale for budgets and all funding to successfully deliver project goals. Operate with established budgets.

  • Have a solid understanding of the technical elements of Packaging: Materials performance and Expertise in Pkgs. Materials: corrugates cartons films/web resins dispensing systems closures bottles labels tape and hotmelt adhesive etc

  • Confidently lead and inspire multi-functional teams required to deliver on project needs.

  • Independently and proactively manage timelines to ensure fastest possible project timing. Feel sole accountability to deliver against initiatives.

  • Generate and present valid Total Delivered Cost information on package/process and other pertinent financial information

  • Implement continuous improvement projects focused on existing packaging materials with a cross- category and holistic mindset.

What do you need for this position

  • BS or MS in Packaging Engineering or Material Science

  • Solid experience in a consumer products packaged goods or pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience in Packaging or roles closely related to Design and/or Packaging

  • Ability to travel 5-20% (domestic and Global) based on project needs

  • Advanced English (conversational and written)

Its a plus

  • Experience in Project Management

  • Experience coordinating packaging development project with Product Development Marketing and the Supply Chain.

  • Experience in package testing and with package specifications
