Job description:
This part-time position will assist with the implementation of the Bridges to Wellness program a culturally responsive mental health initiative designed to address the needs of refugees and immigrants in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. This position will be responsible for delivering mental health education facilitating peer support groups coordinating with community partners and ensuring the program meets its stated outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement culturally responsive mental health education workshops for refugee and immigrant populations
- Assist with facilitating peer support groups with a focus on Haitian Congolese Ukrainian Afghan Bhutanese and etc. communities
- Aid with maintaining relationships with mental health service providers and community partners
- Implement assessment tools to evaluate program effectiveness
- Participate in “Wellness Wednesday” activities promoting mental health awareness
- Assist with implementing a referral system for specialized mental health services
- Assist supervisor of program with metrics and prepare reports for funders and organizational leadership
- Ensure cultural appropriateness of all program materials and activities
- Ability to provide a flexible schedule as the role will include evenings and weekends to meet the needs of participants.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred experience working in the mental health or social services field
- Minimum of 12 months of experience working with refugee and immigrant populations
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and mental health support strategies
- Strong cultural competency and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Lived experience that would aid in the ability to provide peer related support services to a diverse population
- Proficient computer skills
- Proficiency in a second language preferred (French Swahili Dari Pashto Ukrainian or Haitian Creole highly desirable)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must complete Immigrant and Refugee Trauma-Informed Case Manager Training within 2 months of hire
- Must complete Mental Health Interpreter Training within 2 months of hire
- Must complete Immigrant and Refugee Trauma Training within 2 months of hire
- Must have transportation and ability to travel throughout Lackawanna and Luzerne counties
- Background clearances required
