Duties and Responsibilities

(NOTE:**denotes Essential Functions):

  1. **Plan and organize curricular offerings based on workforce and other general needs of the Lanai community.
  2. **Work in collaboration withdepartmentchairs to recruit screen orient and evaluate qualified lecturers according to UH policies andprocedures.
  3. **Plans and coordinates student recruitment onboarding placement testing and registration activities. This may also include the collection of tuition and fees according to University requirements.
  4. **Work independently and collaboratively to identify plan develop and implement student success strategies and programming on Lanai. This may include first-year orientation financial aid/FAFSA tutoring equipment rentals student government/activities or clubs etc.
  5. **Perform instructional support requirements including oversight of distance learning proctoring exams managing and distributing equipment for student use and serving asliaisonto the library and learning center.
  6. **Recruit screen orient supervise and evaluate all employees at the Lanai Education Center.
  7. **Manage the Lanai Education Centerfacilityby collaborating with the Operations & Maintenance department to ensure a safe and healthy physical campusenvironment.
  8. **Manage budgets supervise purchases and maintain equipment for the Lanai Education Center.
  9. **Organize and maintain an active program advisory committee and maintain relationships with local workforce and community partners.
  10. **Collect and maintain accurate Lanai enrollment and other data andcompleteessential college reports.
  11. **Must be able to work nights and/or flexible schedules.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Professional Work Experience:
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education Hawaiian Studies Social Sciences Public Administration Business Administration or related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for education programs; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of post-secondary education as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standards and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with managing an education center.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer apply word processing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Community college experience in providing onboarding services academic and/or student support.
  2. Established familiarity with Lanai community agencies and resources.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with students faculty and the general public.
  4. Experience serving rural learners in an educational setting.
  5. Experience supporting college students engaged in different learning modalities (i.e. in-person online and hybrid).
