What you can achieve:
As the Welcome Network Coordinator you will support community volunteers throughoutUnamakiCape Breton by ensuring they are empowered with the tools resources and information they need to engage in the welcoming work that will help to support andretainnewcomers in their communities.
What you will do:
- Lead Newcomer Welcome & Engagement:This role is primarily focused onwelcoming newcomers toUnamaki-Cape Breton.Youllachieve this by coordinating and hosting welcoming events across all municipalities sending personalized welcome packets and providing ongoing support to ensure newcomers feel connected and resourced.
- Manage & Support Volunteer Welcomers:Recruit onboard and provide ongoing support to ourWelcomers (volunteers). This includes managing the volunteer program structure offering training resources and organizing appreciation events for their invaluable contributions.
- Build &MaintainPartnerships:Foster strong relationships with newcomer service providers and other island-wide partners to enhance the overall newcomer welcome experience and support the growth of the Cape Breton Welcome Network (CBWN).
- Program Management & Reporting:Oversee the CBWN budget develop and implement evaluation plans to measure program success and prepare progress reports for funding partners.
- Communication & Outreach:Develop communication materials to promote the CBWN and create newsletters to share upcoming events community resources and relevant information with newcomers and volunteers.
Whatyoullbring:
- Education:Post-secondary education from a recognized academic institution in a relevant discipline (e.g. Public Relations Marketing Communications Business Administration) or a suitable combination of education and experience is considered an asset.
- Experience:Experience in program coordination community development community engagement and event planningisconsidered an asset.
- Knowledge Base:A solid understanding of the diverse communities and cultures that exist in Cape BretonUnamaki along with knowledge of effective marketing and communications strategies.
- Key Skills:Excellentverbal and written communication skills strongorganizational abilitiesincluding time management prioritization attention to detail andbasic budget skills.
- Personal Attributes:Aself-starterwith initiative andstrategic thinking capable of working effectively bothindependently and apositive team playerwith stronginterpersonal skills exercisingtact sound judgment and discretion anddemonstratingcultural sensitivitytowards newcomers and diverse communities.
- Technical Proficiency:Familiarity and comfort using theMicrosoft Office Suite(Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint) andvirtual communication toolslike Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- AdditionalAssets:
- Ability to communicate inmultiple languages.
- Knowledge oflocal resources and services for newcomersinUnamakiCape Breton.
- Experience withsocial media platforms(Facebook Instagram) and software such as Canva and Mailchimp.
- Priorknowledge or engagement with the Welcome Network program.
Working Conditions:
- The Welcome Network Coordinator works Monday-Friday in an office environment with theoptionto work from home up to 2 days per week provided you have a strong and reliable internet connection and canmaintainconfidentiality.
- Work location is flexible; the Cape Breton Partnership is an island-wide organization with offices in Sydney Baddeck Port Hawkesbury andArichat.
- A valid drivers license (access to a reliable vehicle is an asset however not a requirement as long asyoureable to access other methods of transportation when needed bus rental car).
- Frequent sitting or standing while using a computer isrequired.
- Flexibility in working hours isrequiredas some work will happen outside of regular hours.
- You will be required to travel frequently throughout the Island to fulfil the duties of this role.
