- Responsible forassistingwith the design and implementation of the Multilingual Learner (MLL) Programensuringcompliance with State and Federal laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with both Elementary and Secondary Principals in planning and organizing the MLL Programacross all grade levels.
- Guidethe development and implementation of curriculum assessment and instructional practices that promote academic achievement and language development for Multilingual Learnersin cooperation with other Academic Supervisors and Directors.
- Provide professional development for teachers paraprofessionals classroom teachers district MLL coachesregardingprogram descriptionsupport effective language acquisitionassessment curriculum strategies instructionalmaterialsand culturally responsive instruction.
- Develop implement and supervise in-service training programs and curriculum committees for the MLL Program in collaboration with otherAcademicSupervisors andDirectors.
- Superviseand supportMLL District Resource TeachersandInstructionalLeadershipSpecialiststo ensure effective program delivery.
- Coordinateidentifiedschools and teachers for scheduled training; follow up and ensure training sessions are well attended.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent and district leadership to communicate and promote the philosophy goals and successes of the MLL Program to families staff and the broader community.
- Assist Principals in screening recruiting and mentoring staff working with Multilingual Learners.
- Support the Human Resources Department with matters related to the licensure of all SEI-MLL and ESOL teachers.
- Oversee the Title III Grantincluding budget compliance and reporting.
- Ensure completion and submission of all MLL reports required by State and Federal agencies.
- Assistwith the design implementation and administration of grants approved by State and Federal agencies.
- Monitor the district-wide implementation of WIDA and ACCESS testing.
- Conduct formal and informal observations of educators to promote exceptional teaching and learning experiences for MLL students.
- Analyze and interpret data related to MLL student performance; collaborate with district and school leaders to develop improvement plans based on findings.
- Oversee the adoption and use of diverse instructional materials including textbooks reference resources instructional kits and multimedia tools.
- Represent the district at ESE statewide MLL leadership meetings and professional learning communities.
- Plan and deliver school-based support resource development and problem-solving around district priorities to support MLL students.
- Maintain expert knowledge of WIDA Standards assessment tools and best practices in MLL education.
- Engage families of Multilingual Learners community coordinators educatorsparaprofessionaland community partners to promote culturally responsive and inclusive practices within the MLL Programwithin the Springfield Public Schools.
- Updateand provide information toSchoolCommittee upon request or as needed.
- Promote a vision of equity access and excellence for all Multilingual Learners.
- Provides strategic leadership for all district MLL initiatives including Extended Learning World Languages Pre-K language supports and Student Assignment staff (translators interpretersliaisonsand assessors) to ensureequitableaccess and success for multilingual learners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by theSuperintendent and Assistant Superintendent of CurriculumInstructionand Professional Development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree from an accredited college or university.
- ESL license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Supervisor/Director license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teachingor supervisoryexperience inMLL Programs.
- Experience working in multicultural and multilingual educational settings.
- Administrative experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience providing instructional leadership and professional development related to language acquisition andequitablepractices.
- Proven ability to analyze datamonitorstudent progress and drive instructional improvement.
- Strong communication collaboration and organizational skills including technology.
- Demonstrated success leading or coordinating programs serving multilingual multicultural student populations.
- Understanding ofDual Language Transitional Bilingual Education Sheltered Instruction and SIFE Programs.
- Bilingual or multilingualproficiencypreferred.
