The ResearchAnalystwill work closely with the research team and other colleagues at CHIA vendorsand stakeholders such as sister agenciesproviderspayers ResearchAnalystwill help lead and supportanalytic work and product developmentin addressing ongoing and emerging health care information and data gaps particularly in areas such as health careworkforce health careutilizationand emerging issues.
As aResearch Analyst you will have the opportunity to:
Drive Data-Backed Insights:Seize the opportunity to work with an extensive range of data on health careutilization access andequityrelated issues. You will be at the forefront of producing and reviewing clear and comprehensive written analyses graphicstablesand presentations using CHIAs rich data sources to unearth crucial insights that will inform and shape health care policies and initiatives.
ShapeData Management and Analysis:Take an active role in shaping data projectsbyimplementingdata managementtasks forlarge datasets such astheAllPayer ClaimsDatabase(APCD)hospital discharge data(CaseMix)and otherdataassetsto facilitate and deliverinsightful analyses that drive real change in Massachusetts health care all while expanding your skills in a dynamic mission-driven environment.
Champion Data Integrity:Participatein quality assurance (QA) and documentation processes to ensure that reported data is reliable andaccurate. Work both independently and collaboratively with team members in developing analytical plansand documentationappropriate foreach project.
Becomea Technical and Subject Matter Expert: Provide technical support totheresearchteam in programming and data analytics usingAPCDCase Mix and otherdataassets. Use your critical thinking skills to conduct literature searches and synthesize findingson topics of interest.
Here are the important qualifications we are looking for:
DataProgramming and VisualizationExpertise:At least1year of experienceand knowledge ofdata management and analysis using SAS R STATA and/or any other major statistical of/experience withPowerBITableau for data visualizationpreferred
Research Background:Knowledge of and experience with research methodsand processes
Health Care Knowledge:Experience working withhospitaldischargedata andpreviousexperience working withhealthcare claimsdata stronglypreferred.
Effective Communication:Demonstrateexcellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly and persuasively.
Educational Background:Bachelors degree in social sciences public policy public health or quantitative fieldrequired;Advanced degree in health services research statistics epidemiology or relatedfieldstronglypreferred.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Analyst I:Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in business administration health care planning or administration public health policy or administration human services policy analysis or administration or economics the major duties of which included financial analysis of costs expenses and revenue and/or the development implementation and monitoring of financial reimbursement systems or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
higher degree with a major in health care administration hospital administration public health or health services administration accounting business administration business management public policy publicadministrationor economics may be substituted for the required experience.
Analyst II:Applicant must have at least (A) three years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in business administration finance accounting health care planning or administration public health policy or administration human services policy analyses or administration economics or a similar field; or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelors degree with a major in health care administration hospital administration public health or health services administration finance accounting business administration business management public policy public administration economics or similar degree may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the requiredexperience.*

Analyst III:Applicant must have at least (A) four years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in business administration health care planning or administration public health policy or administration human services policy analyses or administration economics the major duties of which included financial analysis of costs expenses and revenue and/or the development implementation and monitoring of the health care service delivery system and pricing addition applicant must have a working knowledge of CHIAs administration of nursing and residential care facility rate setting operations includingdeterminingrevised capital rates setting rates for existing and new facilities ownership changes realty and management companies and CHIAs systems used tomaintainnursing and residential care facility operations and rates.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelors degree with a major in health care administration hospital administration public health or health services administration accounting business administration business management public policy public administration economics or similar degree may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the requiredexperience.*
II. Analyst I/RSA I:$61551.88- $87921.34annually.
Analyst II/RSA II:$70757.18- $102269.96annually.
Analyst II/RSA III: $81166.28- $118145.56annually.
Total Compensation:
We value the talent andexpertiseyou bring to the table. We offer a competitive salary rangeof $61551.88 - $118145.56annuallyfor this iscommensuratewith experience. CHIA may adjust title responsibilities and salary depending on the experience andexpertiseof the individual selected.
