The Reserves Engineer is responsible for the evaluation analysis and reporting of oil and gas reserves across the companys assets. This role ensures the companys reserves are accurately estimated in accordance with SEC guidelines internal standards and industry best practices. The Reserves Engineer will collaborate with reservoir engineering geoscience GIS marketing operations and financial planning teams to support corporate strategy reserve-based lending and long-range development planning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform reserves evaluations and prepare annual reserves reports in compliance with SEC regulations and company policies.
- Conduct decline curve material balance rate transient analysis volumetric and other engineering analyses to estimate oil gas and NGL reserves.
- Collaborate with geologists reservoir engineers and operations to validate technical and economic assumptions.
- Maintain and update reserves databases and economic models (e.g. ARIES).
- Support the preparation of external reserves audits and third-party engineering reviews.
- Provide input for corporate planning investor relations and reserve-based lending requirements.
- Monitor well performance recovery factors and economic cutoffs to ensure accurate forecasts.
- Assist in evaluating development projects acquisition opportunities and divestitures from a reserves perspective.
- Prepare management presentations summarizing reserves results trends and assumptions.
- Ensure reserves reporting adheres to SEC SOX and internal control requirements.
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 37 years of experience in reservoir or reserves engineering within the upstream oil & gas industry.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong technical understanding of reservoir engineering fundamentals production forecasting and economic evaluation.
- Proficiency with reserves and economics software (e.g. ARIES PHDWin or equivalent) and reservoir engineering software (Whitson Combocurve)
- Familiarity with SEC guidelines and reserves classification standards (SPE-PRMS SEC definitions).
- Advanced Excel skills & experience with database management preferred.
- Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
