Senior Android Engineer

Location: Calgary Canada (Hybrid 3 days onsite)
Duration: 12-month engagement

Rate: $45-50/hr on W2

Role Overview

Senior Android Engineer to help drive the development of flagship Android applications. This role is ideal for an experienced mobile engineer who combines strong architectural judgment deep Android platform knowledge and a passion for building scalable high-quality mobile solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain high-quality Android application features using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks
Architect and optimize scalable mobile solutions with a focus on performance and reliability
Collaborate closely with product managers designers QA and engineers to deliver impactful features
Write clean efficient and well-documented code aligned with team standards and best practices
Participate in architecture discussions and influence the technical direction of the Android platform
Conduct code reviews mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence
Identify diagnose and resolve complex performance stability and scalability issues
Champion automated testing CI/CD pipelines and continuous integration practices
Stay current with Android platform updates emerging mobile technologies and industry trends

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
5 7 years of professional experience developing and maintaining Android applications at scale
Strong proficiency in Kotlin including Coroutines Flows higher-order functions generics and the Android SDK
Deep understanding of Android Architecture Components (ViewModel LiveData Room Navigation)
Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and modern UI development
Strong grasp of object-oriented design MVVM and modular architecture principles
Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger or Hilt
Experience with performance profiling memory management and crash analysis tools
Experience working with RESTful APIs networking and asynchronous programming
Proficiency with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows
Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills

Desired Skills

Experience with unit testing frameworks and automated testing strategies
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications
Strong appreciation for mobile UX and usability principles
Collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
