Job Summary:

Lead NCAA Division I Field Hockey program by recruiting and developing qualified student-athletessupervising assistant coaches and organizing schedules. The head coach must conduct the program in amanner that recognizes the primacy of academics by recruiting supporting and retaining student-athleteswho will uphold Holy Cross high academic head coach must ensure that the Field Hockey program operates in compliance with all College PatriotLeague and NCAA rules and regulations.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provides leadership to team that achieves academic and athletic success on a consistent basis. Headcoach monitors academic progress; develops training programs that are safe and effective for student-athletes; schedules games and practices in accordance with College policies; coordinates travelarrangements; oversees selection of team equipment and apparel; coordinates video analysis;develops game strategies; completes reports; and maintains records as required.
  • Collaborates with sport administrator and/or Director of Athletics to develop annual goals for programs needs and concerns responsibly and in timely manner.
  • Coordinates recruitment of student-athletes. Head coach identifies talented academically qualifiedprospective student-athletes; effectively communicates with high school coaches prospects andparents; and supports key applicants within admissions and financial aid offices.
  • Provides individualized and team instruction
  • Responsible for administration of all phases of the program including monitoring team budget
    completing expense reports and conducting sports camps and/or clinics.
  • Oversees operational activities of assistant coaches and prepares annual evaluations for direct reports.
  • Participates in marketing and fundraising initiatives. Engages in special events to generate interestwithin the College community alumni and region.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by sport supervisor and/or Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Prior experience supervising assistant coaches and other staff members
  • Previous coaching experience required preferably at the Division I level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong communication interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Computer and video editing skills strongly encouraged.

  • Organizational and leadership savvy; must be able to lead on all aspects for managing one or more athletic programs.
  • Encourages professional development and leadership skills in role as supervision of assistant
    coaches.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility and reliability - position requires travel work on nights and weekends.
  • Understands risk management and works in conjunction with Sports Medicine and Strength andConditioning personnel to uphold health and safety standards in the conduct of all activities.
  • Strong teamwork and team facilitation.
  • Supports departmental efforts through collaborative measures and sharing knowledge with others.
  • Understands values and respects diversity within the team and fosters an inclusive and supportiveenvironment.
