Overview:
Our client in the Financial Services sector is looking for a highly experienced Data Governance Specialist to lead the implementation of Microsoft Purview as the strategic platform for Finance data governance and management. The successful candidate will operationalise governance disciplines across the Finance function ensuring full integration of metadata lineage and data quality capabilities in alignment with the Group Data Governance Framework and Medallion Architecture objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement Microsoft Purview as the central data governance platform for the Finance division.
Deliver end-to-end data management capabilities ensuring practical adoption and integration within the Finance data landscape.
Establish and maintain the Finance data catalogue capturing comprehensive metadata and classification linked to core finance capabilities.
Develop and standardise a business glossary aligned with Group-wide finance terminology.
Document and maintain full data lineage across systems ensuring traceability and transparency.
Define and implement data quality frameworks including issue identification monitoring and reporting.
Ensure compliance with data and information security standards including documentation of RACI relationships across business and technology stakeholders.
Advance data reconciliation and control processes to strengthen data accuracy and integrity.
Leverage existing metadata documentation and align implementation with existing governance artefacts.
Provide governance assurance evidence and documentation throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Technical Skills:

Extensive experience with Microsoft Purview configuration deployment and integration.
Proficient in metadata management glossary development and data lineage mapping.
Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and information security principles.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric Azure Data Factory Synapse and Power BI.
Experience embedding data governance frameworks and implementing enterprise-scale governance tools.
Understanding of Medallion Architecture and cloud-based data management.

Deliverables / Outputs:

Fully operational Microsoft Purview environment integrated with Finance data capabilities.
Comprehensive catalogue glossary lineage and data quality artefacts.
Governance assurance documentation aligned with Group standards.
Improved data management maturity and finance data reconciliation outcomes.
Regular status and issue tracking reports supporting project governance.

Success Criteria:

Timely and high-quality delivery of data governance artefacts and documentation.
Clear communication and ability to simplify complex governance concepts.
Positive stakeholder feedback on collaboration and implementation effectiveness.

Experience & Qualifications:

710 years experience in data governance and data management implementation within Financial Services or enterprise-scale organisations.
Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale Microsoft Purview implementations.
Comprehensive understanding of finance data systems and reconciliation processes.
Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft Information Protection Administrator / Fabric Data Engineer / CDMP / DGSP.
