As our Piping Plover Technician (PPT) you will be responsible for surveying piping plover populations and conducting piping plover nest monitoring at TNCs John E. Williams Preserve. You will travel frequently throughout the management area and may work long and irregular hours in variable weather conditions at remote locations in uneven terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Complete annual monitoring of piping plover populations nest success and fledgling success on the John E. Williams Preserve.
Participate in the collection of research data on plover habitat enhancement projects.
Complete a final report summarizing plover monitoring and management activities.
May perform other duties as assigned.

Associates degree in natural resources; environmental studies or equivalent combination of education and 6 months experience.
Experience managing and prioritizing tasks from multiple sources.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Experience in data collection and analysis to produce written reports.
2 years in natural resource management (area of study.)
Multi-language skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Knowledge and field experience in natural resource management and ornithology.
Ability to operate all-terrain vehicles motorboats 4x4 trucks trailering and complete outdoor work using hand tools.
Ability to perform with a minimum of supervision and work cooperatively with a wide range of people.
Experience with bird monitoring and identification.
This position requires a valid drivers license and compliance with TNCs Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles rental cars or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered high risk drivers. Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement which may include a review of the prospective employees motor vehicle record.
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $22.50 - 24.90/hour. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidates actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors including for example the candidates location qualifications specific skills and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
