The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer 2 to work as a member of the Project Control Team. As a contributor to the agencys mission of providing safe reliable and cost-effective transportation options this role supports the departments goals of sustaining credibility by maintaining and reporting accurate information in Capital Connect (CC) about project milestones accomplishments and changes. This is accomplished by learning from successes helping with challenges that affect project control and delivery of the regions capital program and exchanging up to date project information to promote accountability and better manage change.
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role the Program Management Support will:
- Prepare and submit work orders authorizing state federal and local funds including complicated projects with multiple PINs local investments and multiple agreements.
- Review Headquarters (HQ) setup of work orders and new groups for accuracy.
- Develop and input new projects in CC; update projects with current Basis of Estimates (BOE) schedule changes revised aging plans and other miscellaneous changes or revisions.
- Review and update Federal fun unbilled weekly reports.
- Put together the Activity Schedule CC change list after monthly meeting and provide to Assistant Program Manager for review.
- Assist with creation review and editing of BOEs for projects.
- Assist Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager with Regional and Statewide reporting request.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity the following competencies are required:
- Project Control & Financial Management:Demonstrated ability to establish monitor and maintain project budgets and financial agreements including work orders federal and local fund tracking and spending reconciliation. Ensures accuracy in financial systems such as CC Transportation Reporting and Accounting Information System (TRAINS) and Transportation Executive Information System (TEIS) and proactively identifies discrepancies to support timely project delivery.
- Project Data Accuracy & Reporting:Ability to accurately input update and track project information deliverables schedules and milestones within agency systems like CC. Prepares clear reports and supports statewide and regional reporting efforts to maintain transparency and accountability.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:Proven ability to research analyze and interpret project and financial data to develop and propose solutions. Demonstrates attention to detail and supports change management processes by reviewing scope schedule and budget impacts.
- Communication & Collaboration:Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to work effectively with program managers project offices regional staff and other internal partners. Able to coordinate project updates prepare professional documentation and contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment.
- Time Management & Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Adjusts to changing priorities while maintaining accuracy meeting reporting cycles and supporting project development and delivery.
