Job Summary

Were seeking someone to join our team as an Associate to work alongside the Advanced Analytics and Innovation (AA&I) lead to establish project objectives and define comprehensive requirements including business rules and data acquisition the Audit division we provide senior management an objective and independent assessment of the Firms internal control environment for risk management and governance.


The Internal Audit Division (IAD) drives attention and resources to vulnerabilities by providing an independent and well-informed view and impactful messages about the most important risks facing our Firm. This is accomplished by performing a range of assurance activities to independently assess the quality and effectiveness of Morgan Stanleys system of internal control including risk management and governance systems and processes. IAD serves as an objective and independent function within the Firms risk management framework to foster continual improvement of risk management processes.
This is an Associate level position within Technical Specialist function which is responsible for providing extensive subject matter expertise and reinforcing the ability of business and technology audit teams to appropriately assess risk and determine and execute coverage.

What youll do in the role:

  • Execute a wide range of assurance activities (e.g. audits continuous monitoring closure verification) with guidance
  • Understand and adopt new audit tools and techniques
  • Develop clear and concise messages regarding risk and business impact within relevant coverage area
  • Identify and leverage data to incorporate into analysis of coverage area
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal stakeholders to build effective working relationships and to execute on team deliverables
  • Effectively manage multiple deliverables while delivering high-quality work
  • Analyze large complex data sets to identify trends patterns and produce compelling insights
  • Work in partnership stakeholders to develop and maintain user-friendly dashboards and visualizations
  • Develop processes and scripts to Extract Transform and Load (ETL) data
  • Apply advanced analytic techniques to identify trends or provide analytical solutions.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities of improving efficiency through use of Generative AI frameworks and tools
  • Maintain strong client focus by building strong relationships with Firm-wide stakeholders and identify opportunities to utilize data analytics solutions and tools in Internal Audit

What youll bring to the role:

  • Understanding of audit principles tools and processes (e.g. risk assessments planning testing reporting and continuous monitoring)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and adapt messages to audience
  • Ability to identify patterns and anomalies in data with guidance
  • A commitment to practicing inclusive behaviors
  • Willingness to solicit and provide feedback to further develop self and peers
  • The ideal candidate will leverage both traditional analytics techniques and GenAI techniques to analyze and interpret complex data sets providing actionable insights to drive business decisions
  • Ability to translate complex technical data concepts and language into business context
  • Ability to learn new technical skills such as new tools or programming languages and apply that to solve business problems
  • Curiosity to understand the data and ability to present it in an informative manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact confidently within Internal Audit and with internal clients
  • Experience with natural language processing and/or exposure to Generative AI frameworks and tools (e.g. GPT GANs) will be and added advantage
  • Generally we would expect to find the skills required for this role in individuals with at least 2-4 years relevant experience

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $86000 and $127000 per year at the commencement of employment. However base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package which depending on the position may also include commission earnings incentive compensation discretionary bonuses other short and long-term incentive packages and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
