Anesthesia Nurse Supervisor
This position oversees and actively participates (approximately 50% of time) in the daily care and management of animal patients within the Anesthesia Unit of the Veterinary Medical Center (VMC). The role supports and facilitates the anesthesia services clinical teaching and research functions. Responsibilities include supervising hiring and training technical staff; ensuring adequate staffing levels; and performing duties typically carried out by veterinary nurses to maintain workflow and provide direct patient care support.
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college technical or vocational school with coursework in Veterinary Technology; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in patient care surgery drug dosing and sterilization or an equivalent combination of education and experience; licensed as a Veterinary Technician with the S tate of Michigan or attainment of such certification within one year of date of employment.
3- 5 Years as a veterinary nurse/technician in an educational in experience and qualities in an applicant include effective communication skills takes responsibility builds trust attentive to and understands the views of others has a positive attitude resolves conflicts constructively and respectively builds positive working relationships with all staff and collaborates effectively with team members and across departments.

Working schedule is Monday through Friday during daytime working hours with occasional night and weekend hours if necessary.

Lifting animal patients onto cages and medical equipment; carrying animals between cages and exam tables and gurneys; pushing carts containing animals and equipment to other units; climbing stairs carrying lab samples; restraining animals; preparing for medical procedures and treatments. Lift animals up to 50lbs individually and up to 150lbs as a team.
Potential exposure to animals or specimens with Mycobacterium Work with animals or unfixed tissue. Wear a respirator (does not include paper dust mask worn for comfort).
