The School of Continuing Education one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 550 part-time School is inviting applications for the following position:
Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant

The project is seeking an appointee to provide analysis and administrative support for research activities related to language problems in the Chinese writings of secondary school students as well as to design corresponding online e-learning materials for self-learning. Major duties include conducting literature reviews performing Chinese grammar analysis of student scripts carrying out quantitative and qualitative data analysis coordinating with internal and external parties (especially web designer and developer) conducting field surveys coordinating with student helpers and other related tasks. The appointee will also be required to perform any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Chinese language Chinese linguistic or related disciplines;
- At least 3 years of post-qualification research experience OR Masters degree in Chinese language Chinese linguistic or related disciplines;
- Preferably 2-3 years of relevant experience in research or editorial work in publishing company;
- An organized efficient highly motivated team player with positive working attitude good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong data interpretation and reporting skills with demonstrated accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
- High proficiency in Chinese language (esp. modern Chinese grammar)
- Proficiency in computer applications (e.g. MS Office Chinese and English Word Processing) and good knowledge in compilation of statistical data; preferably with experience in data analysis (e.g. SPSS AMOS MPlus)
- Knowledge and experience in project coordination social media platforms and analytic technique
Candidates with less experience will be considered for the post of Research Assistant.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
The appointee will be required to work on the Shatin Shek Mun Campus.
Appointments will be offered on a fixed-term contract of ten months.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
