Job Summary

We are working closely alongside with local authority in Haringey to assist with the appointment of a Right Sizing Officer on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 19.74- 26.04 per hour

Summary:

The Right Sizing Officer provides comprehensive advice and support to tenants who are under occupying a Haringey Council home. The role focuses on finding innovative ways to administer promote market and monitor efforts to reduce under-occupation by offering flexible and tailored support to tenants who wish to downsize. A core part of the role is to reduce the worry of moving by providing a high-quality customer-focused service.

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the first point of contact conducting in-depth interviews (via telephone) and necessary home visits to discuss downsizing applications and personal circumstances while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Conducting holistic assessments considering tenants medical needs occupational health referrals and older persons sheltered housing assessments and working closely with internal and external agencies.
  • Identifying under-occupying households actively engaging them and informing them about the implications of under-occupation and the options for moving to suitable alternative accommodation
  • Processing downsizing housing applications including investigating checking and banding in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 VI and allocation policies. This includes identifying and making allocations for tenants moving into sheltered housing.
  • Undertaking checks to establish correct incentive payments and preparing appropriate financial documentation. Preparing statistical information and performance reports to enable analysis and promotion of the Councils approach

Essentials:

  • Experience of delivering a service to the public ideally in a housing environment
  • Experience in dealing sensitively and professionally with customers who may be vulnerable challenging and/or under stress
  • A good understanding of choice-based lettings systems social housing allocations legislation and policy
  • Working knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 VI and allocation policies
  • Ability to understand and work with data to target interventions and produce reports.
