As a Workforce Career and Education Outreach Specialist you will:
- Provide career guidance career preparation and workforce information to middle and high school students in the Heart of Texas Workforce Development Board Area.
- Establish relationships with local and rural school districts and provide information on opportunities and training requirements in high-growth and high-demand occupations to middle and high school students using TWC resources and other existing tools
- Provide classroom presentations virtually or on-site to engage and train students and district staff on using career tools and resources to navigate the labor market and career information
- Organize and collaborate on workshops and career fairs for school and community partners using resources such as the LMCI website and materials
- Coordinate with local and state workforce services employers and educational institutions to build pathways into pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship programs technical and/or community colleges internships and employment through TWC tools job fairs and site visits
- Establish connections with local and rural employers to assist internship creation for CISHOT Work Experience programming
- Assist in the creation of job-shadowing opportunities industry tours and other internship/apprenticeship opportunities
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Social Work Psychology or a related field
- One year of qualifying experience may be substituted for each year
- Experience in workforce development or Career and Technical Education (CTE) preferably in gathering and reporting outcomes. ISD experience as a teacher or counselor working with middle or high school populations.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The ability to function in a diverse job environment
- The ability to plan organize and implement social service programs
- Must be able to transport oneself to and from work site and for other identified work requirements
- Lift 10lbs use a personal computer work outside of standard working hours as needed and provide proof of current liability insurance coverage
