Special Events Officer

Position Summary

Join the San Diego State University Police Department and make a meaningful impact in our dynamic campus community! We are seeking experienced law enforcement professionals for part-time Special Event Officer this position youll help keep students faculty staff and visitors safe during athletic events concerts and other large campus gatherings.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol buildings and grounds by foot bicycle electric vehicle motorcycle and patrol car.
• Protect students faculty staff visitors property and facilities from accidents harm theft vandalism fire and illegal entry.
• Enforce state laws local ordinances and campus traffic/parking regulations; apprehend violators when necessary.
• Control crowds and maintain order during special events or disturbances.
• Respond to emergencies provide first aid and assist in evacuations when needed.
• Guard property and facilities to deter crime and ensure safety.
• Investigate incidents such as accidents property damage fires thefts and disturbances of the peace.
• Gather evidence make arrests and appear in court as required.
• Prepare clear accurate reports on law enforcement and safety incidents.
• Provide information assistance and positive engagement to the campus community supporting the principles of community policing.

Compensation & Position Information

• The pay rate for this position is up to $80 per hour.
• This recruitment will be used to establish a pool of candidates for current and future hourly intermittent appointments.

Qualifications

• Current or *retired peace officer with a California law enforcement agency. The last date of employment must have been within the last three years or have proof of requalification.*CalPERS retirees must followretired annuitantrequirements as outlined by CalPERS.
• Must meet current employment standards of the Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) and have completed POST approved Field Training program at home agency.

Specialized Requirements

• Active law enforcement officers are required to obtain authorization from their home agency Chief of Police/Sheriff authorizing them to work on a per diem/hourly basis for San Diego State University.

Licenses/Certifications Required

• Valid California Drivers License.
