Summary of Responsibilities
The Director of Architecture is responsible for directing project Architecture & Engineering teams in the design development final design and construction administration of assigned projects and the mentoring of assigned staff. Position is focused on Industrial product type and extensive experience in Industrial is desirable.
Essential Job Functions
- Managing Final Design personnel including hiring reviewing directing consulting and training.
- Coordination and prioritization of resources to ensure timely completion of project final design and construction administration activity.
- Assuring appropriate quality of final design for both internal and external customers.
- Assuring accuracy and completeness of final design documents.
- Forecasting weekly and monthly workload.
- Leading client meetings and presentations.
- Developing Final Design Department project budgets to be integrated into overall project design budget for submittal to internal and external customers.
- Monitoring and maintaining approved Final Design Department project budgets
- Assuring adequate Design Development of projects.
- Coordinating with the Vice President Architecture on an ongoing basis and advising the architectural staff on code technical and construction issues.
- Performing in the capacity of a Senior Project Architect as appropriate.
- Assisting Senior Project Managers with code and technical issues that may affect project budgets and/or schedules.

Position Requirements
- Demonstrate mastery of the architecture practice design standards and supervising a design team with technical expertise in drawings specifications and building materials.
- Maintain an architecture license
- Have excellent leadership and mentoring skills
- Have superior ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of the project team and clients
- Demonstrated experience in programming site evaluation site planning schematic design design development construction documents preparation and construction administration for commercial projects including bulk distribution industrial office medical office and multi-family projects.
- Strong design graphics and communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- 12-15 years post-graduate experience in an architectural office
- Hold a Bachelors of Architecture () or Masters of Architecture () degree and National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) certification.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
- Demonstrated experience in all phases of architectural practices managerial and leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in Industrial product type including bulk distribution flex warehouse speculative and build-to-suit is desirable.
- LEED Experience desirable
Safety Hazard of the Job
Normal safety hazards associated with office work and with occasional observational visits to construction sites.
Physical Demands
Low physical effort required to sit stand at files bend stoop lift and walk. Maximum unassisted lift is 35 lbs. Average lift is less than 10 lbs. Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor. Also requires the ability to communicate verbally both in person and on the telephone. May require some travel.
Environmental Requirements
Average inside office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment is required. Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
