Responsibilities
Engineering Team Leadership:
- Provide Strategic Engineering Team Direction.
- Foster a strong Sense of Purpose within the team.
- Build Team Cohesion and Morale.
- Oversee Engineering Team Development.
- Ensure Team Empowerment.
- Provide Mentorship and Coaching.
- Foster a Culture of Continuous Learning and Improvement.
- Ensure Transparency and Accountability.
Governance & Operations:
- Maintain Governance and Compliance standards.
- Provide Engineering Process Oversight.
- Own and maintain the Technical Backlog items as part of the Team Backlog.
- Policy Implementation at the Engineering Team Level.
- Manage Risk within engineering operations.
- Establish and maintain a system of engineering metrics.
- Monitor team performance through engineering KPIs OKRs DORA and outcomes.
- Support strategic Budgeting decisions and contribute to annual budget planning discussions highlighting anticipated headcount tooling and infrastructure needs.
- Ensure the Operating Model is followed.
- Drive Improvements related to SDLC Process and Quality.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies advocating for innovation and driving the adoption of new tools and practices.
Resource Management:
- Strategic Workforce Planning.
- Handle Resource Allocation effectively.
- Lead engineering team scaling initiatives.
- Practice effective Delegation.
- Manage Capacity Planning.
- Ensure End-to-end accountability for team output.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Facilitate Stakeholder Engagement Communication and Collaboration.
- Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration.
- Ensure strategic alignment between the teams Engineering Roadmap and Tech Strategy objectives.
- Serve as Tech Strategy Advocate.
- Guide Change Management initiatives.
People Management:
- Talent Acquisition Onboarding and Retention.
- Personalised Individual Development in alignment with team goals and objectives.
- Promote Values and Cultural Alignment.
- Foster Diversity and Inclusion.
- Guide Selection/Deselection processes.
- Handle Conflict Management and Resolution.
- Manage Succession Planning.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or an equivalent work experience in a related field.
- Experience in leadership or management roles.
- Engineering background e.g. Software Engineer or Quality Assurance Engineer.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and modern software development frameworks and tools.
- Proven track record of successfully leading the development of software products from conception to delivery.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities focusing on delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with the Agile software development frameworks (e.g. Scrum Kanban) and application lifecycle management tools (e.g. Jira Trello).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
