JOB SUMMARY:
The Sr-Quality Manager will be responsible for defining implementing and monitoring quality systems and practices across all stages of the knitwear production process-from fabric inspection to final shipment. This role ensures adherence to buyer specifications global compliance standards and internal quality benchmarks for export markets. The GM-Quality will lead the QA/QC teams and collaborate with production merchandising and compliance to deliver defect-free garments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Quality Strategy & Systems Implementation
- Develop and enforce quality assurance strategies aligned with export buyer requirements.
- Establish SOPs and control mechanisms across knitting dyeing cutting stitching finishing and packing stages.
- Ensure quality systems are aligned with AQL standards and customer audit expectations.
2. Pre-Production & Risk Assessment
- Review tech packs and buyer specifications before production begins.
- Conduct risk analysis with sampling technical and merchandising teams.
- Ensure pilot runs and size set approvals are conducted before bulk production.
3. In-line & Final Quality Control
- Monitor inline inspections during knitting sewing and finishing to detect issues early.
- Ensure final random inspections (FRIs) are done as per AQL 2.5/4.0 or buyer-specified levels.
- Lead daily quality review meetings with floor QC/QA and production teams.
4. Team Management
- Lead a team of QA managers QC inspectors auditors and lab technicians.
- Provide training on buyer quality standards defect classification and reporting.
- Set KPIs and performance monitoring for the QA/QC department.
5. Compliance & Buyer Interaction
- Coordinate with buyers and 3rd-party auditors for quality approvals and inspections.
- Handle buyer quality audits factory evaluations and CAPA closures.
- Maintain documentation for audits - including inline reports FRIs defect analysis and rework logs.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Analyze quality reports to identify recurring defects or production inefficiencies.
- Initiate root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Promote zero-defect culture through quality awareness and floor-level interventions.
7. Lab & Testing Oversight
- Ensure fabric and garment testing is carried out as per buyer or international standards (e.g. shrinkage colorfastness GSM pH).
- Manage internal lab or liaise with external labs (e.g. SGS ITS) for test reports.
KEY SKILLS:
- Expertise in quality systems AQL and CAPA methodology.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to train and mentor a large QA/QC workforce.
- Sharp eye for detail analytical approach to defect tracking.
- Working knowledge of ERP or QMS tools is preferred.
