SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Promote and provide proactive security services including a safe and secure environment at assigned schools and other facilities. Protect students staff and visitors who utilize District properties. Safeguard and protect all District property and assets. Recognize and monitor conditions that exist or that create potential for endangerment of students staff and visitors or damage or loss to District facilities or properties. Provide reasonable intervening measures as necessary for risk prevention or to achieve effective resolutions to problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Conduct random and scheduled patrols of assigned District sites facilities and grounds or at other sites of District sponsored events. Monitor and observe activities and ensure students staff and visitors comply with District policies and procedures.
Take intervening action when necessary to prevent or resolve potential or actual disruptive activity or incidents. Notify local law enforcement officials about criminal activity.
Contact and verify authorization for access of all persons entering District facilities or grounds.
Enforce District policies concerning student conduct and discipline and applicable federal state and local laws and ordinances. Students who have violated District policies or laws will be referred to site administrators.
Maintain close communication with and keep the site administrator informed of all matters related to site safety and security. Maintain close communication with the District Risk Manager relaying information regarding potential activity effecting the safety and security of students staff or facilities.
Develop and maintain effective professional and diplomatic working relationships with local law enforcement officials and SROs as required.
Produce written incident reports on students in regards to: non-compliance to District policy; matters of disruptive activity; incidents or damage injury weapons use or possession theft drug abuse alcohol and tobacco use sabotage vandalism assaults/fights or other inappropriate or illegal activity occurring on District properties.
Produces written reports on any security related matters upon request of Building Administrator and/or District Risk Manager. Maintains a dual reporting responsibility and keeps the site administrator and District Risk Manager informed of all incidents.
Attend and complete required training as directed by the Building Administrator and/or District Risk Manager. Initiate or request on-going training regarding the use of technology or information involving safety and security techniques procedures and protocols and general technological use.
Monitor students in building and/or on campus. Watch for unauthorized persons suspicious/criminal activity disturbances fights and school rule violations report to proper authorities.
Observe and gather information regarding students using alcohol drugs gang activity and/or any other illegal activity.
Monitor traffic flow before and after school and at functions.
Conduct building sweep and secure assigned areas as requested.
Prepare incident reports as requested.
Escort students and visitors as needed.
Assist staff with students who are disciplined and walk students to administration offices.
Ensure students staff and visitors adhere to District policies and regulations while on campus.
Assist with evacuation of building during drills and actual emergencies or emergency lockdowns.
Review and assist with the update of crisis intervention plans and/or evacuation procedures.
Supervise students during in-school suspension before and after school at bus loading/unloading zones and during detention.
Maintain records of students who complete assigned in-school suspensions assignments and detention.
Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of successful experience supervising secondary students.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to exercise conflict management skills use verbal de-escalation and supervise disruptive or hostile students parents and the public.
Ability to communicate and work with students parents building staff administrators volunteers and the public in a diverse environment.
Ability to use sound judgment and work independently.
Ability to supervise students for during in-school supervision classroom and detention.
Ability to use computer software to maintain records and produce referrals to management and other documentation.
Ability to learn District and building policies and regulations regarding student behavior.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Certification and Licenses
Fingerprinting and background check.
CPR and First Aid certifications.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Previous security work experience in a school environment.
Conflict resolution and self-defense skills training.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in and around the various buildings that comprise middle and senior high schools. Employee works outdoors for a portion of the day and is frequently exposed to inclement weather moving vehicles and fumes; exposed to hostile or extremely agitated individuals or potentially dangerous situations. Ability to bend stretch twist or reach requiring ordinary physical effort; listen more attentively than normal daily life; sit or stand for prolonged periods of time walk for two or three hours per day.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
