Float: May float within stepdown and medical-surgical units based on census
We are seeking an experienced ICU Step-Down Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity cardiac and vascular step-down unit. This position does not require operating room experience it is a floor nurse role providing advanced telemetry and post-surgical patient care in a progressive care environment.
The RN will deliver evidence-based care monitor complex telemetry patients and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
Assess plan implement and evaluate nursing care based on patient needs.
Develop individualized plans of care and modify them as needed throughout the patient stay.
Administer medications monitor vital signs and manage complex telemetry patients.
Provide care for patients with central lines tracheostomies and stable ventilators.
Initiate and manage IV lines and ensure proper maintenance of all infusions.
Accurately document care and assessments in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system (Epic or similar).
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
Advocate for patient safety and support evidence-based nursing practices.
Float to units within scope of competency as required.
Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry in a major acute care hospital.
Strong clinical background in MS/Tele nursing.
Proficiency in:
Telemetry monitoring
IV insertion and management
Central line care
Medication administration
EMR documentation (Epic or similar)
Basic tracheostomy care and ventilator management
Ventilator management experience
Post-cardiac surgery or post-surgical care experience
Previous experience in cardiac step-down or progressive care units
Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Active New Jersey RN license or multi-state compact license required
BLS American Heart Association (AHA) required
ACLS American Heart Association (AHA) required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required
Telemetry certification required
4-Hour Stroke CEU required
OR experience not required this is a floor-based step-down unit position.
Must demonstrate critical thinking adaptability and teamwork in a high-acuity environment.
Excellent communication and patient-centered care skills are essential.
