Typically Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm 40 hours a week (Position will require evening and weekend work as needed)

Summary/Objective of Position:

Under general supervision of the Vice President of Finance & Administration the Director of Information Technology develops and accomplishes ITDs strategic goals and objectives by planning organizing coordinating and implementing the assigned functions and projects required to operate and maintain optimal departmental operations and services; maintain network/system security and confidentiality of all privileged information; and reviews and revises IT Policies and Procedures as needed. Provides Management with direction and leadership in technology and applications; trains supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; develops system and hardware support to meet the broad technology needs of the College.

  • 30% Strategy & Planning;
    • Lead strategic technological planning to achieve the Colleges mission and strategic plans by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation deployment and management of current and future technology related to the College academic and administrative infrastructure.
    • Develop and maintain a Colleges information technology and telecommunications master plan which reflects long-range planning of technology projects required to support and in alignment the Colleges strategic plans.
    • Direct development and execution of enterprise-wide Information Technology security disaster recovery for system data record retention and business continuity plans and integrating vendors where appropriate.
    • Develop and communicate business/technology alignment plan to executive team staff students partners and stakeholders.
  • 30% Acquisition & Deployment;
    • Direct the continuing review and evaluation of current systems and methods; provide leadership to executive management regarding information systems and technology advancements in the field.
    • Assess and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases
    • Define requirements for new technology implementation related to new academic and administrative product development and support the colleges technology infrastructure and vendor relationships.
    • Oversee coordination of stakeholders and subject matter experts to implement new technology projects.
    • Prioritize and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to new product development and support and to selection acquisition development and installation of major information systems.
  • 30% Operational Management
    • Participate as an advisor to the executive management team in the governance process of product maintenance and development technology vendors the colleges technology architecture including telecommunication network programming media software & hardware.
    • Project resource requirements including personnel equipment and software analyze proposed costs and potential benefits; present recommendations and reports to administrators regarding information systems projects resource utilization and production performance.
    • Follow developed methods of evaluating the performance of information systems and the IT staff to ensure achievement of institutional objectives.
    • Develop and facilitate the program review process for the information systems and technology function.
    • Develop and administer the IT departmental budget review and approve expenditures according to established College policies and procedures; prepare recommendations and justifications related to proposed expenditures and monitor short-term project expenditures involving IT.
    • Develop and recommend IT policies and administrative procedures governing the operation of IT and telecommunication resources to ensure the security accountability and efficient and effective use of information resources across the College.
    • Direct computer operations and equipment maintenance of departmental records and reports; assure compliance with relevant laws College policies and generally accepted protocols; maintain appropriate records and documentation according to established purchasing policies and procedures
    • Select assign orient train supervise counsel discipline motivate and annually evaluate the performance of assigned staff; ensure efficient and effective performance; develop expectations for performance and standards of excellence.
    • Prepare and administer annual budgets for assigned area; evaluate new technology and develop plans for implementation relative to District and campus needs
  • 10% Integration
    • Direct and foster ongoing collaboration with academic department heads and administrative leaders to ensure seamless alignment between institutional goals and technological capabilities.
    • Serve as the primary liaison in assessing prioritizing and implementing technology solutions that support academic excellence business continuity and institutional advancement.
    • Evaluate streamline and enhance technology standards policies and procedures across the College to ensure efficiency security and scalability.
    • Identify opportunities for system integration and automation to improve data flow reduce redundancy and enhance the user experience for faculty staff and students.
    • Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies that strengthen the Colleges competitive and technological edge.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Minimum:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or experience commensurate with education
  • Minimum: Three (3) years of formal training internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrators assignment.
  • 3 years experience in ITI 3 years experience in the management of IT projects.

Preferred:

  • Possession of a Masters Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • 3 years experience in Formal Project Management training preferred. Five (5) years experience in Higher Education IT preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge in Information Technology Infrastructure Library
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory infrastructure
  • Knowledge of lAS MS Windows and other client operating systems
  • Knowledge of classroom technology including controls and audio

Skills:

  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with all levels of internal and external contacts to provide clarity; gather and disseminate information and resolve issues
  • Produce regularly scheduled reports and interpret information to action
  • Experience in calculating the return on investment and cost of ownership
  • Experience with using systems and network terminology and concepts.
  • Contract administration experience
  • Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable but not mandatory

Abilities:

  • Ability to lead a team of technology staff to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies and procedures.
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
  • Ability to monitor analyze and report on data extracted from monitoring and trouble ticket reporting systems.
  • Ability to use analytics to establish and track departmental performance for operational and strategic plans.

Physical Requirements Work Environment & Travel:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; use hands to finger handle feel objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is regularly required to walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Traveling in and out of state is required for the position.

Other Requirement(s):

  • Must have and maintain a valid state-issued drivers license.
