Job Description: Used Car Manager
Position Summary:
The Used Car Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealerships pre-owned vehicle operations. This includes inventory acquisition pricing strategy reconditioning coordination sales performance and profitability. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with deep automotive knowledge strong negotiation skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Source and acquire quality pre-owned vehicles through auctions trade-ins and wholesale channels
- Maintain optimal inventory levels aligned with market demand and dealership goals
- Oversee vehicle reconditioning and ensure timely readiness for sale
Sales & Profitability
- Set competitive pricing strategies to maximize gross profit and turnover
- Collaborate with the sales team to drive volume and close deals
- Monitor and analyze sales metrics adjusting tactics to meet performance targets
Customer Experience
- Ensure all used vehicle listings are accurate compelling and up-to-date
- Support sales staff in resolving customer concerns and trade-in evaluations
- Uphold transparency and professionalism in all customer interactions
Team Leadership
- Train and mentor sales consultants on used car product knowledge and selling techniques
- Coordinate with service finance and marketing departments to streamline operations
- Foster a culture of accountability integrity and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Proven experience in automotive sales or management preferably in used car operations
- Strong understanding of vehicle valuation market trends and reconditioning processes
- Excellent negotiation communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in dealership management systems (DMS) inventory tools and digital retail platforms
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
