Job Summary

At this level you will be expected to:

  • Support the planning and delivery of user research across digital projects using a range of methods with guidance from senior researchers.
  • Learn and apply the Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles and similar standards used in the UK public sector with access to training and mentoring.
  • Carry out user research activities such as interviews usability testing surveys and desk research under appropriate supervision.
  • Help teams understand the diversity of users by supporting inclusive research practices advocating for accessibility and considering the needs of different user groups.
  • Assist in analysing research data to identify patterns user needs and pain points.
  • Present research findings in a clear and engaging way tailored to different audiences.
  • Build rapport with users and work collaboratively with product managers designers developers and other team members.
  • Develop an understanding of user-centred design and agile ways of working and learn how to apply them in delivery teams.
  • Show curiosity empathy and a willingness to learn and grow as a User Researcher.

This is a role designed to help you grow into a confident and independent User Researcher. You will be supported through:

  • A dedicated training budget for formal courses  
  • Structured mentoring and shadowing with experienced Senior User Researchers.

Qualifications :

  • Around 12 years of experience in user research social or acaemic research or a related discipline with transferable skills.
  • Some practical experience of conducting qualitative and/or quantitative methods (e.g. usability testing interviews surveys desk research).
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance.
  • Work to a Hybrid working model.
