Job Summary:

The Wisconsin School of Business is seeking a Chief Operating Officer who will be a leader in administrative services transformation and operational excellence for an enterprise with annual expenditures totaling approximately $100 million. This position reports to the Dean and serves as a key advisor to and member of the senior leadership team. The ideal candidate thrives in complex environments and has a strong financial acumen especially with respect to budgeting forecasting and financial oversight. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative leadership style.

This position will steer the schools core administrative and financial infrastructure to enable bold innovation academic distinction and long-term sustainability. This position is responsible for managing and optimizing cross-functional operations across core services areas while also nurturing campus-wide partnerships to help the school leverage best ideas and practices.

This position requires work be performed in-person onsite at a designated campus work location.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a divisional representative and subject matter expert to institutional leadership and internal and external stakeholders providing financial direction and information fostering collaborative relationships across multiple functional areas and representing the interests of the division

  • Participates in the development maintenance and monitoring of automated financial information systems and budgets and disseminates updates and results to leadership when appropriate

  • Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes objectives for multiple finance functional areas to ensure appropriate use of financial administrative and staffing resources and alignment with the strategic plan

  • Oversees reviews develops recommends and implements policies and procedures for internal and external financial reporting budgeting and financial operations

  • Collaborates with campus and school leadership in optimizing core administrative services

  • Exercises supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

  • Directs division business operations and is responsible for administrative financial and operations management.

  • Determines personnel needs and the personnel resource allocation plan

Required Qualifications:

  • Seven or more years of experience working in a senior leadership position

  • Prior experience developing operational budgets and financial forecasts for similar or larger size organizations

  • Prior experience developing and leading the implementation of organizational strategic initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Experience navigating and influencing in a shared governance environment within a higher education setting

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

  • Masters Degree Preferred
