TEMPORARY - Middle School Learning Specialist (Parental Leave Coverage)Belmont Day School seeks a dynamic skilled and creative learning support specialist to join the learning support team and contribute to a program that will support students with diverse learning the middle school the learning support specialist will provide intervention and remediation; support teachers in teaching students with diverse learning needs in the classroom; teach sixth seventh and eighth grade Focus classes; and work with parents students and outside professionals to best support the needs of students.A qualified candidate will also possess a strong enthusiasm deep knowledge of and familiarity with middle school students a commitment to fostering and modeling our core values and a clear understanding and dedication to equity and inclusion and infusing anti-bias and culturally responsive pedagogy. This is a temporary full-time exempt position that runs from Monday January 5 2026 through Friday April 9 2026. This role is not eligible for benefits and reports to the assistant head of school. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored compensation strategy prioritizes pay equity for faculty with similar years of teaching experience and relevant advanced degrees. Based on the minimum years of experience required for this role the annualized salary range for this position is $66700 to $99150 for twenty years of prior teaching experience. The salary for the temporary nature of this role will be pro-rated based on actual weeks worked. ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the learning support team to contribute to a cohesive learning support program from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. Teach three sections of middle school Focus class which targets executive functioning skills as well as previewing and reviewing content being taught in core academic professional testing reports manage student learning profiles and help coordinate the middle school SSAT and MAP assessment with classroom teachers to develop and guide appropriate learning profiles and educational plans for teachers in classrooms to help differentiate and enrich curricular approaches and formative and summative assessments to document student progress and achievement; assess and analyze student strengths and with families and faculty to recommend tutors and educational in parent-teacher conferences and plan follow-up meetings and careful anecdotal and assessment records and use them to contribute to writing accurate and comprehensive student to fostering an equitable and inclusive community in and out of the with students routinely by providing coverage at lunch recess dismissal or other duties as coordinate and deliver training or professional development opportunities as additional responsibilities as degree required; advanced degree preferredMinimum of 3 years experience teaching this developmental age groupTraining and experience in special educationExperience working in a learning support roleCertification and/or experience with strategies in differentiated instruction and executive functioningOutstanding organizational skillsDeep appreciation for and commitment to building a cohesive and innovative community of learnersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to develop thematic curriculumCommitment to professional development and best practices in teachingClear understanding and dedication to equity and inclusion and infusing anti-bias and culturally responsive pedagogyCommitment to effective use of technology in the classroomA sense of humor flexibility energy patience and creativityTo apply:Please submit a cover letter resume and a list of professional references to with Middle School Learning Specialist in the subject line by Monday November 10 school will always be maintained as a non-sectarian institution.
