Job Summary

The Program Assistant under the direct supervision of the Learning Center Director provides coordination and support services for the Content Tutoring Program including assisting with training of student staff administrative support and daily oversight of program services. The Program Assistant provides critical support for TLC designed to strengthen the academic success and retention of students using TLC services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Learning Center Director provide coordination and daily oversight of services for the Content Tutoring program.
  • Directly assist with the supervision and evaluation of tutors along with the Director.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the program infrastructure including program documentation training materials and other program resource materials including electronic / online materials.
  • Conduct outreach to disseminate information about program services to the campus community and campus partners.
  • Assist the Director with activities related to program assessment and evaluation as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse campus community. They should have a solid understanding of the challenges faced by low-income first-generation and academically at-risk students and be able to assess learning needs and connect students with appropriate resources. Familiarity with learning disabilities and the learning process across various disciplines is preferred. Additionally the candidate should be comfortable delivering presentations and engaging with students in both individual and group settings.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelors degree in one of the behavioral sciences public or business administration or a job-related field and one year of directly related experience required.

Masters degree in counseling higher education administration or related field preferred.

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

The hiring rate for this position is $33375 per month.

CSU Classification Salary Range (Part-Time 0.75 FTE): $3361.50 $4756.5 per month.

Time Base

0.75 time-base part-time.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 6 months with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
