Job Summary

Overview:

The AAPI Student Development Program Student Employee will assist the API Equity Coordinator in completing various tasks and assignments related to programming social media marketing and student interaction for the program. The student employee in this role will be trained on how to set and clean up events create marketing and manage social media platforms and more. A typical day could include event set-up manning the front desk and interacting with students.

Department: Office of Access Equity and Diversity

Campus Location: Des Plaines with occasional trips to Skokie

Hours Available: 15-20 hours per week

Schedule Flexibility: Student schedule will fluctuate based on what assignments are accepted/refused. Once accepted students are expected to follow through with their determined schedule with minimal adjustments.

Tasks Duties and Responsibilities (TDRs) and Learning Outcomes:

  • Assist with creating programs and program set-up and/or take-down

CD/TW

  • Create marketing materials and manage social media tools

TC/PF

  • Provide space coverage in the CCID during shift and answer any questions

CM/EI/PF

Interact and engage with students in the AAPI Student Development Program

CM/EI/PF

Complete other projects as assigned

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Other Abilities or KSOAs)

    • Must be a currently enrolled at Oakton College in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. Employment over the summer is allowed for students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer or students continuing registration into the following Fall semester.
    • Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.
    • Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
    • Demonstrated reliability and responsibility.
    • Friendly flexible organized courteous and punctuality a must.
    • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong detail orientation preferred.
    • Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE) preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
    • Some evening and very occasional weekend hours.

  • Ability to complete assignments at both the Skokie and Des Plaines campuses is preferred.
