The Transformational Training Pathways for Hispanic Pastors is a grant-funded initiative that collaborates with the Latin American Bible Institute (LABI) and Life Pacific University (LPU) to meet the needs of Hispanic churches and pastors in Southern California by providing theological education for Spanish-speaking students. This position will play a crucial role in the grant initiative aimed at increasing access to education for Pathways Scholars.
The Pathways Program Coordinator (PC) - This part-time (20 hours/week) position is fully grant-funded and will provide support with academic advising counseling and mentoring for students who will be matriculating into the program at APU. The Pathways Program Coordinator will help with the recruiting process mentoring and advising students. Also the Pathways Program Coordinator will provide support with the transition from LPU to APUs doctoral program and from LABI to APUs masters program.
Required Education
- Bachelors degree in religion education counseling psychology or related field (Masters degree preferred).
Required Experience
- Previous experience in academic advising counseling or student support services preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
- Provide comprehensive academic advising counseling and mentoring to students enrolling into the Hispanic program at Azusa Pacific Seminary.
- Mentor and guide students as they progress through their academic paths offering support and resources to facilitate their success.
- Assist students in navigating the transition from LPU (Lower Program University) to APUs doctoral program ensuring a seamless integration into higher-level academic pursuits.
- Facilitate the transition of students from LABI (Lower Academic Institution) to APUs masters programs offering guidance and support every step of the way.
- Collaborate with faculty staff and other stakeholders to develop and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing student success and retention.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interactions utilizing data to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness.
- Stay current on trends and best practices in academic advising and student support services continuously seeking opportunities for professional development and growth.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and personalized support to students fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment.

Compensation
- Grade 7: $19.49 to $22.41 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications experience and internal addition to compensation APU offers a competitive benefits package.
