As the Senior Manager Fleet Safety youll play a pivotal role in bolstering safety compliance and assurance initiatives within Flight Operations at QantasLink. You will lead and uplift the Fleet Safety Investigations function ensuring robust timely and thorough investigations of safety occurrences across Flight Operations. Leveraging extensive safety and operational data youll drive improvements in our safety performance through proactive analysis benchmarking and the identification of systemic and emerging trends and risks. 

Youll be instrumental in leading the rollout of the Flight Operations Safety Strategy collaborating with senior leaders and stakeholders to embed a strong safety culture and deliver on key transformation initiatives. Your expertise will ensure that safety management systems and operational standards are implemented monitored and continuously improved in line with Qantas Group Management System requirements. 

 

What youll bring to the role: 

 

  • Professional aviation qualifications and significant aeronautical experience as a pilot in airline operations (highly desirable) 
  • Demonstrated people management skills  
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety management systems and operational investigation experience in an airline environment  
  • Solid experience designing analysing and executing reports in a digital analytics or business intelligence (BI) tool Excel and PowerPoint using multiple data sources (highly desirable)  
  • Strong negotiating and conflict resolution skills  
  • Safety audit and risk management experience (desirable)  
  • Self-motivated with the ability to show initiative and flexibility  
  • A positive results-focused disposition and a readiness to tackle challenges  
  • Proven ability to lead influence and drive change across teams and departments
