Job Description
Position: Disability Support Worker
Location: South East Queensland
We are looking for reliable committed and experienced disability support workers to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with personal care medication and meal preparation.
- Support clients to attend appointments and grocery shopping.
- Work with challenging behaviours PBSPs and care plans.
- Offer domestic support and household tasks.
- Assist with the use of assistive technology.
- Facilitate community inclusion and participation in activities venues and services.
- Follow Positive Behaviour Support Plans and/or Care Plans.
- Work as part of a team and participate in team meetings and training.
About the Role
On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Support daily living ensuring maximum opportunity for developing independence and achieving goals.
- Provide opportunities for choice and control and participation in matters relating to the home as well as facilitating access to community services as required.
- Carry out and promote positive routines in a cooperative respectful and flexible manner which are meaningful and purposeful to the participant.
- Facilitate community inclusion and participation to establish and maintain relationships and interests through access to community activities venues and services.
- Follow Positive Behaviour Support Plans and/or Care Plans.
- Work as part of a team and participate in team meetings and training.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent experience
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and NDIS Screening Card (Yellow Card) or willing to obtain prior to commencement
- Current Australian Drivers Licence
- Own vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
Preferred but Not Essential:
- Manual handling training
- Administration of medication training
- Industry experience working with challenging behaviours mental health disability or other relevant experience will be highly regarded
