Job Summary

Description

This position is an instructional position with duties and responsibilities which are established in accordance with State Board of Education Rules and Board of Trustee policies. Teaching assignments will focus welding practices to include gas and electric welding. This position reports to the Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education. All instructors are responsible for utilizing the Colleges learning management system as all College courses are at a minimum technology enhanced.

Examples of Duties

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Plans organizes and instructs assigned courses to promote studentsuccess.
  2. Responsible for evaluating student learning and objective achievement and providingfeedback.
  3. Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use and ensures proper care andsafety.
  4. Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of theCollege.
  5. Assists in implementing College policies objectives and functions in accordance with theCollege Mission Statement.
  6. Responsible for keeping current in the discipline or program areastaught.
  7. Assist in College recruitment and retention efforts as appropriate.
  8. Other related duties as assigned.





Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform welding practices to industry standards to ensure safety of staff students facilities and equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability in these specific areas: Oxy-Acetylene cutting welding and brazing Carbon Arc cutting blueprint reading for welders metallurgy metal fabrication and the following welding techniques: SMAW GMAW GTAW PAC FCAW and metal corrosion.
  • Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.
  • Experience in instructing students of varying skill levels.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and inwriting.
  • Knowledge of College mission policies procedures and services.
  • Proficient in the use of technology.
Education and Qualifications:
  • High Schol diploma or equivalent required.
  • Postsecondary training or certification in welding technology or a related field.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience is preferred.
  • Three (3) years work experience in field is preferred.

(A comparable amount of training education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications)

Licenses Certifications or Registrations:
  • A current AWS (American Welding Society) Certified Welder Certification is preferred.
  • Certifications in any of the following preferred: Oxy-Acetylene cutting welding and brazing carbon arc cutting blueprint reading for welders metallurgy metal fabrication and the following welding techniques: SMAW GMAW GTAW PAC FCAW metal corrosion CRAW are preferred.
