Job Summary

Reporting to the CTE Coordinator the HVAC teachers role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible men and women.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teacher will establish the career area curriculum and oversight of daily operations.
Prepares lesson plans in accordance with curriculum accordingly.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
Creates a classroom /career area environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goalsestablishes clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance of organizational standards.
Evaluates pupils academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques.
Participates in professional development and remains in current in the field.
Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities:
Supervises the classroom students and teaching assistants.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Teaching experience preferably in a vocational high school setting.
Chapter 74 vocational licensure through DESE or ability to acquire the Chapter 74 license.
Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to heating and ventilation.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:


MA refrigeration license is required.
Possession of a current Section 608 EPA certification at the universal is preferred.

ABILITY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Language Skills:
Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to effectively prepare lesson plans in accordance with district curriculum and the state Curriculum Frameworks. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students parents teachers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference fundamentals of plans and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to the instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students peers and parents; ability to work effectively with all staff at all levels of the school district; skills in oral and written communication is required.

Basic Computer Skills:
General knowledge of Google applications and other computer skills needed for attendance monitoring and curriculum management.
