- Experience knowledge training and/or education in Recreation Administration Business Administration museum or attraction operations or a related field
- Leadership experience in a large and complex organization
- Advanced facility management knowledge coupled with an astute ability to comprehend the specific scope and unique requirements of this specialized facility and to effectively advocate for these needs
- Extensive knowledge related to program and event planning and coordination project administration and management
- Experience and previous focus on providing a safe healthy and productive facility environment building systems and operations marketing and communications
- Experience with contract and agreement development evaluations implementation and monitoring
- Direct experience liaising with partner community groups and inter-departmental teams along with knowledge of the community involvement process

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:
- 1 permanent full-time position
- Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week Monday - Friday. This position may require work outside of regular hours and could require occasional evening and weekend availability
- Salary: (Annually) - $142206.08 - $177758.62

The Community Recreation and Culture Branch operates with a facility-focused output model holding responsibility and accountability for all municipal recreation facilities major attractions river valley attractions civic events and partnerships cemeteries golf courses community recreation and sport centres arenas and leisure centers.
Reporting to the Branch Manager of Community Recreation and Culture and serving as a vital member of the Branch Leadership Team the Director is responsible for the strategic management of Fort Edmonton Park. This historic destination proudly represents a rich tradition to the City of Edmonton offering the Indigenous Peoples Experience Program educational offerings cultural and heritage programming events and experiences from the 1846 Fort to the 1920s Midway and Exhibition. The Director will facilitate the coordination of these offerings along with customer relationship functions and operations at this distinguished facility.
As an integral part of the Community Recreation and Culture Leadership Team the incumbent must possess the skills to understand and actively participate in decisions pertaining to all output and operational areas of the branch as well as the overarching strategic direction of the department and the City. The incumbent must cultivate and sustain robust working relationships with other civic departments government agencies community groups boards and associations connected to the aforementioned facilities ensuring Fort Edmonton Park continues to thrive as a cornerstone of our community.
What will you do
- Inspire and empower team members through effective mentorship clear communication and a commitment to foster a positive and inclusive work environment
- Drive innovation by developing and presenting compelling proposals and action plans for strategic initiatives encompassing process and program evolution impactful marketing campaigns optimal staffing and visionary facility planning and development
- Advance the overall direction of heritage services for the City of Edmonton including the John Walter Museum
- Directly negotiate and finalize all facility-based contracts and agreements
- Provide Leadership and support to partners and that are responsible for the various aspects of the facilitys operations programs services capital development and events including the Fort Edmonton Foundation and the Edmonton Radial Railway Society
- Drive revenue growth and attendance for the Fort Edmonton Park and the Community Recreation and Culture Branch. Provide leadership and direction to the team in creating developing implementing and evaluating strategic initiatives focused on business expansion
- Establish a superior customer service culture and lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive customer service policy standards and training program for all personnel
- Leverage the unique programming strengths of Fort Edmonton Park to strategically enhance and strengthen program offerings
