Position Summary
The University Health Network (UHN) Pharmacy Department is seeking an Investigational Pharmacy Services (IPS) Clinical Research Coordinator to support multi-site IPS teams and advance pharmacy services within UHNs research framework. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence regulatory compliance and efficient workflows in IPS across the network.
The IPS Coordinator will leverage their clinical pharmacy expertise communication skills and technical knowledge to streamline workflows improve efficiency and promote consistency across sites. They will lead change management initiatives optimize complex processes and work closely with the Manager to develop performance metrics that drive continuous improvement. They will gather and analyze operational data to inform strategic planning and enable data-driven decision-making while acting as a liaison between IPS teams researchers and external stakeholders.
Duties
- Leadership and Change Management
- Champion process improvements and implement best practices across IPS sites.
- Mentor and coach team members fostering collaboration and a positive work environment.
- Organize and lead team meetings and huddles to maintain alignment and engagement.
- Operational Excellence
- Oversee investigational pharmacy service workflows from initial protocol review and impact assessment to dispensing and study closure.
- Monitor and evaluate workflows to ensure efficiency consistency and compliance with departmental objectives.
- Collaborate with leadership to design and track performance metrics that support organizational goals.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands and support program growth.
- Data-Driven Decision Support
- Gather analyze and interpret operational data to provide actionable insights for management.
- Prepare project status reports and recommendations to enhance research standards and outcomes.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure adherence to clinical trial regulations Accreditation Canada standards and Ontario College of Pharmacists requirements.
- Audit processes to ensure patient safety and confidentiality throughout medication ordering verification dispensing and administration processes.
- Stay current with relevant legislation SOPs and hospital policies.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Act as a liaison between IPS teams researchers and external partners to resolve operational issues.
- Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide training guidance and mentorship to team members.
Qualifications :
- Completion of university degree (Bachelors of Science Degree in Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program) or equivalent required
- Certificate of competency from the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada required
- Active registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A) required
- Licensed with the Ontario College of Pharmacists Part A. required
- At minimum greater than 6 years of practical and related experience
- At minimum 2 years experience as a practicing hospital pharmacist
- Strong understanding of the healthcare system and hospital sector
- Previous project/systems management experience
- Ability to lead meetings prioritize resolve conflicts maintain issues lists and manage a project plan
- Demonstrated success in leading change and utilizing change management frameworks and tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication and follow-up skills
- Proficient organizational time management and critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively problem solve and prioritize in a high-pressure environment
- Ability and interest to learn and apply new skills and technology
- Advanced skills using software tools such as Visio Excel Word and SharePoint and other tools as necessary
- Familiarity with Research Regulatory requirements
- Experience in a health-care environment basic understanding of clinical workflows and terminology preferred
- Hospital pharmacy residency an asset
- Membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists an asset
- Previous Clinical trials experience an asset
