Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
Location: Syracuse NY 13210
Shift: 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
Duration: 13 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Experience Required: Minimum 1 Year
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join a hospital-based Central Sterile team in Syracuse NY. The technician will be responsible for cleaning assembling sterilizing and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment in compliance with facility and national standards.
Key Responsibilities
Decontaminate inspect assemble and sterilize surgical instruments and trays according to established protocols.
Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves washer-disinfectors and ultrasonic cleaners.
Perform biological and chemical testing to ensure sterilization accuracy and equipment functionality.
Maintain accurate sterilization and equipment tracking records.
Restock organize and distribute sterile and non-sterile supplies to various hospital departments.
Adhere to infection control safety and quality assurance standards.
Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of sterile supplies.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 1 year of recent Sterile Processing Technician experience in a hospital or surgical setting.
Thorough understanding of sterilization techniques infection control practices and instrument identification.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Certifications & Licensure (Required Prior to Start)
CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) Required issued by HSPA.
AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) Required.
