We are seeking a technically strong and people-focused Engineering Managerto lead testing activities for our next-generation Camera and Light Source product lineswithin our Endoscopy R&D team. This is a brand-new roleoffering the opportunity to build upon a solid foundation of existing test practices while driving the evolution toward greater automation and earlier test integration in the development cycle.

Youll lead a talented highly engaged team of engineers across San Jose Burnaby and India helping shape test methodologies strengthen compliance rigor and enable faster more efficient product development.

What You Will Do

Technical & Managerial Leadership You will:

  • Lead and expand a team of test engineers responsible for testing innovative medical device systems.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies spanning manual and automated approaches.
  • Provide hands-on technical direction in unit integration regression hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and simulation-based testing.
  • Drive the transition from 100% manual testingto a balanced 5080% automation modelover time.
  • Champion test-first methodologies that engage verification earlier in the development process.
  • Partner closely with development and systems engineering to align test execution with design and product goals.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA and ISO 13485standards through robust test documentation and disciplined verification practices.

Business & Strategic Execution You will:

  • Establish and manage budgets forecasts and spending for the test engineering team.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align testing strategies with business regulatory and clinical priorities.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve test coverage speed of design iteration and overall quality.

People Leadership You will:

  • Recruit mentor and develop a growing team of junior engineers through coaching performance management and engagement.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration accountability and continuous improvement across geographies.
  • Lead change management efforts as the organization integrates test and development functions.

What You Need (Required)

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering Software Engineering or other related field.
  • 8 years of experience preferably in software testing including manual and automated test development.
  • 2 years of people leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GoogleTest CppUnit or similar automated test frameworks.
  • Understanding of FDA and ISO 13485medical device compliance requirements.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)and simulation-based testing.
  • Background in real-time operating systems (RTOS) embedded software or hardware-software integration.
  • Experience building or scaling test automation frameworks in regulated environments.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Proven success in coaching junior engineers and leading organizational change.

  • $150300 - $245800 salary plus bonus eligible benefits. Individual pay is based on skills experience and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 10%
