About the Role
Our client a respected national law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant to join their Toronto office. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing administrative and procedural support to lawyers across multiple practice areas.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage files from opening through to closing ensuring all key deadlines and limitation dates are tracked.
Prepare and draft a variety of legal documents including application records books of authorities appeal records and appeal books.
Draft routine correspondence and maintain organized communication with clients opposing counsel and experts.
File court documents and manage document submissions across various jurisdictions.
Maintain organized filing systems and ensure accurate document management.
Provide administrative support to lawyers to ensure smooth day-to-day file operations.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of general office experience and at least 3 years of experience as a legal administrative assistant preferably in insurance defence or litigation.
Completion of a Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate or equivalent training.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and comfort learning new software applications quickly.
Knowledge of court procedures and rules with familiarity in interpreting legal Acts and regulations.
Experience with ProLaw or similar legal software is an asset.
