Introduction: The Business Legal and Technology Education (BLT) Department is committed to delivering a high-quality academic and skills-based education across three dynamic fields: Information Technology Accounting and Paralegal/Legal Assistant. Each program is designed to support students in identifying and developing their academic personal and career strengths. With a focus on both theory and practical application the department prepares students for success in their continued education and professional pathways by emphasizing the key competencies and professional standards required in each discipline. Our career-focused Information Technology (IT) program prepares students for in-demand roles through competency-based hands-on learning. The curriculum combines business computer and IT courses with practical projects faculty-supervised labs and workplace internships. Our courses cover core skills in data and programming fundamentals cybersecurity and network connectivity and business support through IT applications. The program prepares students for careers in cybersecurity data science database administration computer and network support programming and systems development and AI and machine learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision design deliver update and assess instruction in a variety of Information Technology (ITS) Information and Computer Science (ICS) and Business (BUS) courses such as but not limited to courses in programming logic programming with computer languages (such as C# C Python and Java) Database Administration and Development AI Machine Learning AI Technologies Data Analytics with Python and R Cybersecurity and Mathematics for Business majors.

  • Develop and/or update course curriculum including the content and materials and teaching and assessment strategies and methods to:

    • improve student attainment of learning outcomes;

    • address the learning needs of the colleges diverse student population;

    • integrate problem solving critical thinking writing and communication skills into course content as appropriate;

    • use technology to support instruction.

  • Plan organize and independently carry out instructional and non-instructional assignments.

  • Perform other teaching-related duties that include but are not limited to preparing course syllabi and maintaining office hours for face-to-face hybrid and online classes (minimum one office hour per week per three-credit class).

  • Teaching duties and responsibilities may include face-to-face hybrid and online internet-based classes evening and weekend classes noncredit classes and teaching at off-campus sites. Non-teaching duties include:

    • working collegially and effectively with others to provide service to the IT program BLT department and college;

    • engaging in public service related to ones professional status and/or expertise;

    • engaging in professional development;

    • engaging in professional or scholarly activities related to ones discipline or teaching;

    • performing related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Masters in Information and Computer Sciences (ICS); OR

  2. Masters in Business with coursework in business computer applications; OR

  3. Masters in Education Technology with coursework in computer applications; OR

  4. Bachelors in Information and Computer Science AND 3 years of related work experience; OR

  5. Bachelors in Business with coursework in business computer applications AND 3 years of related work experience; OR

  6. Bachelors in any field AND 5 years of related work experience including training; OR

  7. Associate degree in Business with some coursework in business computer applications AND 5 years of related work experience including training; OR

  8. 15 college credits in Business with some coursework in business computer applications AND 7 years of related work experience including training; OR

  9. Master recognition by Business Community in computer applications AND 10 years of related work experience including training;

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Successful teaching at the post-secondary level as substantiated by student and peer assessments.

  2. Evidence of ability to work in a collegial manner with peers department chairs and administrators.

  3. Evidence of experience integrating reading writing speaking technology and critical thinking skills and team work in the teaching of information technology.

  4. Ability to write clear prose as substantiated by samples/publications/on-site writing performance.

  5. Successful use of technology to support instruction inside and outside of the traditional classroom.

  6. Commitment to the mission and values of the community college system with its open-door and diverse multicultural populations.

  7. Demonstrated ability to initiate execute and complete projects within deadlines including setting specific objectives and measuring results.

  8. At least three (3) years of professional experience inWindows and Microsoft Office: Comprehensive proficiency in administering and using current versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and the Microsoft Office application suite (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint Access).

  9. At least three (3) years of professional experience inWeb and Mobile Application Development: Proven experience in Web application design and development (front-end and back-end) and mobile device application development (e.g. iOS Android native or cross-platform).

  10. At least three (3) years of professional experience inDatabase Design and Programming: Extensive hands-on experience in database design implementation and programming within a client-server enterprise environment (e.g. SQL Server Oracle PostgreSQL MySQL).

  11. At least three (3) years of professional experience inData Analytics and Machine Learning: Expertise in data analytics principles and techniques including the application of machine learning (ML) models with strong proficiency in statistical programming using R and Python.

  12. At least three (3) years of professional experience inNetworking and Infrastructure Development: Demonstrated experience in the development and/or implementation of computer networks utilizing current networking devices such as switches routers firewalls and wireless access points.

  13. At least three (3) years of professional experience inCloud Virtualization and Network Security: Practical experience with Cloud computing services (e.g. AWS Azure Google Cloud) Virtual Machine (VM) management and development and principles of network usage development and security.

  14. At least three (3) years of professional experience inIntegrated Development Environments (IDEs) and Programming Languages: Advanced proficiency and expertise in using Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) with one or more of the following programming languages: C# Java Python and C.

  15. At least three (3) years of professional experience inAI Technologies in Application Development: Direct experience in the development and/or implementation of applications incorporating AI technologies such as natural language processing (NLP) computer vision or predictive modeling within a modern software development lifecycle.

  16. At least three (3) years of professional experience inAI in Cybersecurity and Incident Response: Current applied knowledge of using AI and machine learning techniques to enhance Cybersecurity defenses (e.g. threat detection anomaly identification) and streamline Incident Response procedures.

  17. Demonstrated knowledge of application security issues and proficiency with secure programming and application development practices. Advanced certifications in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (CISSP CASP GIAC etc.) with professional high tech industry involvement.
