Job Description Summary
This position plays a key role in developing and implementing career pathway programming and student success initiatives. The instructor will deliver pathway-specific English language instruction to adult learners with a focus on integrating pathway-specific content and supporting students academic and career advancement.
Duties
Design lessons and deliver instruction in pathway-specific Englishlistening speaking reading and writingwith integration of technology as appropriate. Collaborate with the Coordinator of Education Navigation to develop and implement pathway programs if needed. Use formal and informal assessments to inform and adapt instruction. Advise students on academic and career goals related to their pathway support recruitment enrollment retention and completion efforts. Maintain effective professional communication with students colleagues and program staff. Accurately track and maintain student attendance and other required records. Participate in required and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
1. Bachelors degree in Education English TESOL Adult Education or a related field. 2. Demonstrated experience teaching English to multilingual learners. 3. Competence in using everyday technology to maintain effective communication with students and staff. 4. Must either hold a NCCCS -recognized credential at time of hire or earn one within 2 years of date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Certification and/or bachelors degree in Education Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages ( TESOL ) or closely related field. 2. At least one years experience teaching adult multilingual learners preferably in pathway or workforce development programs. 3. Familiarity and comfort with using technology in the classroom including SMART Boards iPads computers interactive PowerPoint presentations etc. 4. Experience with advising adult learners career counseling job placement and/or international students. 5. Proficiency in Spanish.
